Gaya: Former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s cavalcade was attacked today when he went to meet deceased LJP leader Sudesh Paswan’s family in Gaya.
The incident took place near Dumaria in Gaya district, police said, adding that the minister escaped unhurt.
The mob also torched an escort vehicle, police said.
As soon as police learnt about the incident, they rushed to the site. They had to fire in the air to disperse the crowd.
Paswan was shot dead by allegedly Maoists near Dumaria last evening during a campaign for the ongoing panchayat elections.
Meanwhile, the Lok Janshakti Party has condemned the murder of its leader and demanded President's Rule in the state in view rising crime.
"Killings are happening on daily basis. Daily doctors, journalists and leaders are being murdered. People who raise their voice are being killed. We demand that President Rule be imposed immediately in the state," LJP leader Chirag Paswan said.
