New Delhi: A mega event will be organised at India Gate here this evening to mark the completion of two years of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.

The mega show titled 'Ek Nayi Subah' or 'A New Dawn' will begin at 5pm. During the 5-hour long event, the government will highlight its achievements and the schemes launched for the weaker section of the society.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and most of his ministerial colleagues are expected to attend the event. A number of film stars, including Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Vidya Balan, Anupam Kher, Anil Kapur and Prasun Joshi, are expected to attend the event.

The event will be telecast live on Doordarshan. All India Radio will also broadcast the programme live from 4.55 PM to 10.55 PM on its Rajdhani and FM Rainbow channels.

The Narendra Modi government on May 26 completed two years in the power at the Centre. The BJP stormed to power at the Centre in May 2014 with a clear majority by bagging 282 seats, giving NDA an unexpected 336 seats.

Program itinerary

5pm to 5.45pm: Amitabh Bachchan on Women and Child

5.50 to 6.30: Swachh Bharat

6.35 to 6.55: Marginalized Sector

7 to 7.25: Farmers

7.30 to 7.45: Infrastructure

7.50 to 8.15: Economy

8.20 to 9pm: Youth

Final segment: Big B on Pride of Being India

9.35 PM: Prime Minister's address

Meanwhile, putting all rumours to rest, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan on Friday clarified that he was not hosting the entire event at India Gate.

The veteran actor said that he will be hosting a segment based on 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign.

"I am hosting a small segment of government's 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign. I am the UN ambassador for girl child education. I am not hosting the two years of Modi government event. In fact, Madhavan is hosting it," he told reporters here.

The Congress had earlier questioned the Centre's decision of selecting the megastar to host the show, saying it might send wrong signals to the investigating agencies probing the Panama paper leaks.
