West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has claimed that the Rose Valley chit fund scam case had links with state-owned insurance group and investment company LIC.
Speaking at an event here on Friday, Banerjee even said that since the Ministry of Finance looks after the LIC, the concerned Minister and Prime Minister be arrested.
“LIC is under the Union finance ministry. How can Rose Valley work with LIC? They actually have a joint-venture. If this be the case, will the Union Finance Minister and the Prime Minister be arrested? They have to come clean on this patch-up. I may be wrong, but they should clear the air,” she said.
On the arrest of her party MPs in connection with the Rose Valley chit fund scam, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo dared the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to arrest her and all TMC MPs and MLAs.
“Sudip Bandyopadhyay was arrested because he has protested (against demonetisation). There was no evidence. Tapas Pal (MP) was also arrested. You arrest all our MPs and MLAs including me. I want to see how much space you have in jail. People cannot protest. If you protest, CBI will arrest you. But don’t get scared. Go on fighting,” she said.
“The Left regime had a deal with chit funds to set up an amusement park in Barasat. No action against them. So many BJP leaders also have links to chit fund. But TMC is being targeted," she added.
Banerjee had locked horns with the centre following the implementation of the demonetisation drive and claimed that the recent arrests made by the CBI, was a result of her continuing protest against the BJP-led central government.
“I am the only one shouting against demonetisation. I have no interest. I am fighting for the people. The country’s economy has slowed down. Modi government will be responsible if there is a price rise and starvation,” the TMC supremo said.
On latest Khadi calander controversy, she said, “The government has not even spared Gandhiji. The picture of the Father of the Nation has been replaced with that of PM.”
