For rising fuel prices, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati on Tuesday slammed the Modi government. She accused the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) of being on the same page as the earlier Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.
She said, NDA was also pursuing the anti-people policies like the UPA. The government's oil policy was irrational and impractical, she added.
"The fuel prices have spun out of control and the Modi government does not want to upset its industrialist friends," the four-time Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said in a statement, adding that the Union government was doing virtually nothing to control rising prices of petrol and diesel, reported news agency IANS.
For the middle class and the poor, the Modi government had no sympathy, BSP supremo said.
The fuel prices could be controlled, if the central government desired, the BSP leader said.
It is pertinent to mention here that from the last few days the prices of petrol and diesel are skyrocketing.
