A defamation complaint was today filed in a UP court against Congress Vice-president Rahul Gandhi for his ‘khoon ki dalali’ remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the 'surgical strikes' carried out by the Indian Army inside Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
A Chandauli based lawyer Sadanand Singh moved the application under IPC Section 500 (Punishment for defamation) in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate which fixed the hearing for October 25.
The complaint says that the ‘khoon ki dalali’ remark of Rahul Gandhi against PM Modi has extremely hurt the countrymen.
Sadanand Singh also alleged that at a time when Indian soldiers are sacrificing their lives in the honour of the country, leaders like Rahul Gandhi are indulging in cheap politics by making such controversial remarks.
Singh termed Rahul Gandhi’s remark as ‘unfortunate’ and alleged that it was made to "harm the popularity" of PM Modi.
On Thursday, the Congress vice-president had accused PM Modi of profiteering from the blood spilt by soldiers.
"Jinhone Hindustan ke liye surgical strike kiye hain, unke khoon ke peeche aap chhupe hain. Unki aap dalali kar rahe ho. Yeh bilkul galat hai. (You are hiding behind theblood of soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir and those who carried out the surgical strikes for India. You are exploiting their sacrifices, which is very wrong}," Rahul had said during a political rally in poll-bound UP marking the culmination of his month-long 'Deoria to Delhi kisan yatra'.
On Friday, Rahul Gandhi defended his controversial ‘khoon ki dalali’ remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that he will not support using Indian Army in political posters.
“ I fully support the surgical strikes and I have said so unequivocally, but I will not support usingthe Indian Army in political posters and propaganda all across the country,” Rahul Gandhi had tweeted.
