The situation in Jammu and Kashmir was not conducive for holding municipal and Panchayat elections, said the Congress party on Wednesday.
“The situation in the state isn’t conducive for holding municipal and Panchayat polls. The elections were announced without keeping in mind the ground situation,” said state party president G.A. Mir.
The Modi government at the centre and state administration should make their stand clear that whether they want to conduct the elections or is it just a political gimmick, he further said.
It is pertinent to mention here that the National Conference (NC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have already announced that they will boycott both the polls.
