Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Wednesday said that his hug to Pakistan's Army chief has been blown out of proportion by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

While targeting the BJP he said it was just a hug and "not a Rafale deal".

Last month, during his visit to Pakistan for the swearing-in of Imran Khan as Prime Minister, Sidhu stirred controversy by hugging Pakistan Army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Over the Rafale fighter jet deal the cricketer-turned-politician's Congress party has been attacking the BJP government.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, after the meeting of the Congress delegation with Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) over Rafale issue, grand old party’s leader Anand Sharma said that the party has “submitted a detailed memorandum.”

“We submitted a detailed memorandum along with enclosures which very clearly establishes irregularities in Rafale purchase. We hope that the matter will be looked into by CAG,” ANI quoted Sharma as saying.

Before the Lok Sabha elections 2019, the Congress party is trying to corner the government over the Rafale issue.

The party has alleged corruption in the deal to buy 36 Rafale fighter jets. The government is buying the fighter aircrafts from France's Dassault Aviation.

The Modi government has caused a loss of over Rs 41,000 crore to the exchequer by paying a higher price for the aircraft, alleged the Congress party.
