Calling yoga an "integrating" force, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today made an appeal for making the ancient Indian practice popular for creating a better and healthier society.

In a series of tweets, the prime minister appreciated the practice of yoga and exhorted people to make the third Yoga Day a memorable occasion on June 21.

“On 21st June, the world will come together to mark the 3rd #YogaDay. Let us all make this occasion a memorable one,” PM Modi tweeted.

PM Modi added that he will be sharing various aspects relating to Yoga  over next three weeks till the 21st of June when the International Yoga Day will be celebrated across the world.

“Till the 21st, I will be sharing different aspects relating to Yoga and #YogaDay,” he said.

“Yoga is integrating the world. Come, become a Yogi in the movement to make Yoga popular & create a better & healthier society,” he added.

The prime minister also shared a prayer video which is recited before practising yoga.

“Let us begin with a prayer, which is always suggested before practising Yoga,” he tweeted.

During his 'Mann ki Baat' radio address on Sunday, PM Modi appealed to families to post pictures of their three generations performing the yoga exercises together on the third International Yoga Day on 21 June.

He also asked them to upload the pictures on 'Narendra Modi App' or 'MyGov' to give the occasion a new dimension.

"Grandparents, parents and children should together perform yoga and also upload their photos. It will be such a pleasant blend of yesterday, today and tomorrow - lending a new dimension to yoga," Modi said.

"These pictures will be a guarantee of a brighter tomorrow," he added.

On 11 December 2014, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) had declared 21 June as the International Yoga Day.
