Bilaspur: Senior BJP leader and Home Minister Rajnath today described Congress as a "sinking ship", saying many people want to leave such a "vessel" as it has no future.
Addressing a 'Vikas Parv' rally organised to celebrate two years of the Modi government, Singh said former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi has created a hole in the "ship" called Congress and the "ship" is sinking now.
"Ajit Jogi has created a hole in the ship called Congress. When there is a hole in a ship, no power in the world can save it. So, Congress is now a sinking ship, it has no future," he said.
The Home Minister said when a ship sinks, even birds on the ship want to leave it and it is certain that many people would leave the "sinking ship".
Singh said once Congress was a formidable opponent but now it has reduced to a weak rival.
Claiming that the Modi government accomplished many achievements during its two-year tenure, Singh said one of the commendable task it has completed is removing graft from the top echelon of the government.
"During the Congress rule, corruption was everywhere. Even some ministers were jailed on corruption charges. Now, no one can say that our government has indulged in corruption," he said.
The Home Minister said to eradicate corruption, one has to take steps to remove it from the top and the NDA government has done that. If Gangotri (the origin of river Ganga) is cleaned, the whole Ganga gets cleaned. It is the same in case of corruption," he said.
Singh said under the UPA government a Rs 1,86,000 crore-scam had taken place in the coal sector but under NDA, the government is going to get a revenue of more than Rs 2,00,000 crore from the sector.
Assuring people that the BJP-led central government would not do anything that will break the trust of the people, the Home Minister said BJP is the only party which can provide a strong and stable government which works for the welfare of the poor.
Singh also listed various schemes started by the Modi government including Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Mudra Yojana, free distribution of cooking gas to five crore families, skill development scheme, policy to provide minimum support price to farmers, ending of interview in class-III and IV jobs and self attestation of certificates by any individual.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh and Minister of State for Defence Rao Indrajit Singh also addressed the rally.
