The Centre on Sunday decided to withdraw the Z+ security cover provided to RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav. The Union Home ministry has now put him into the Z security category.
Moreover, the Centre has also withdrew the NSG cover provided to Lalu Prasad with immediate effect as according to rules, a Z security protectee is not eligible to get an additional NSG cover security.
Apart from Lalu, the Centre also withdrew the Z+ security cover given to former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi. Manjhi till now was a Z+ category protectee and was enjoying CRPF cover, but after the home ministry's decision, the CRPF cover provided to him has been withdrawn leaving him dependent completely on the Bihar Police for his security.
According to reports, the major decision was taken after a review of the security cover for VIPs by Union Home ministry after which orders were issued on Sunday evening.
After Sunday's change in security cover of Lalu and Manjhi, Bihar now has none with Z-plus security cover. Only 18 VIPs are in the state who get 'Z' security cover provided by central government.
