New Delhi: Minister of State for Urban Development Babul Supriyo was today injured in a road accident in New Delhi and admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
The 45 year-old minister, a bike enthusiast, was on his way to receive his daughter from the airport when he met with the accident. He wished to surprise his daughter by picking her up on his bike.
He is currently under observation at the AIIMS Trauma Centre where his condition is said to be stable.
Supriyo, who received injuries to his hand and chest, is said to be in stable condition, doctors said.
"Babul Supriyo has been admitted to AIIMS. However, there is nothing to worry as he received only minor injuries," said a senior doctor at AIIMS.
He said that Supriyo was driving a two-wheeler when he got injured near Moti Bagh. The exact cause is not clear.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is also admitted at AIIMS since last week after suffering from chest congestion and high fever.
