New Delhi: With the surprise shifting of Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha to Civil Aviation in the same rank, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will have two ministers to assist him.
Sinha, who is one of the key initiators for the proposed National Infrastructure Investment Fund, will now join the new ministry at a time when the Cabinet cleared the National Civil Aviation Policy, 2016.
Santosh Gangwar, who was MoS (Independent charge) in Ministry of Textiles, was shifted as MoS for Finance.
1948-born Gangwar, who held the post of textiles minister, has been unbeatable since 1991, having won all elections except in 2009.
Arjun Ram Meghwal, who was among the 19 new Ministers of State to be sworn in on Tuesday morning, will also assist Mr Jaitley.
Mr Meghwal has also got Corporate affairs.
Minister of Communications and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad has been moved out of the Communications portfolio as he has been handed over the responsibility of the Law and Justice ministry, alongside the ministries of Electronics & IT.
Manoj Sinha, who is the MoS in Railways gets Communications as Independent charge, which indicates that there would be no Cabinet rank minister in the department.
