Veteran social activist Anna Hazare on Tuesday lashed out at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for demanding Indian Army’s proof of surgical strike across Line of Control targeting terror launchpads.
“I don't know whether Kejriwal has said it or not. But we should not mistrust the Army. I will condemn those who speak against army or doubt the Army,” Anna said.
“Before doing surgical strike, our military generals and other people must have done some planning. So why will they lie on it? We should trust them. This matter is of Army, the country and its citizen. In such talks, it’s not good to justify someone on it. They must have planned it. So how can we doubt them,” Anna added.
Hazare is a veteran of 1965 Indo-Pak war and was posted in the northeast at a time when insurgency was flaring in the region.
In a televised speech on Tuesday, Kejriwal had ‘saluted’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ordering the surgical strike but also referred to some international media reports and an UN group observations, both of which appear to question its authenticity, as he asked the Prime Minister to ‘unmask the Pakistani propaganda’.
Kejriwal’s comments followed a spate of aggressive criticism by the BJP, which accused the Delhi CM of raising doubts about the surgical strikes across the LoC.
Indian Army had last week claimed that it carried out the operation and destroyed terrorist launchpads following the September 18 attack by terrorists on an army camp which killed 19 soldiers at Uri in Jammu and Kashmir.
