Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday night hailed the choice of Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu as the NDA candidate for the vice president’s post.
“Given his vast political experience, Venkaiah is fully eligible for the vice president’s post. My heartiest congratulations to him,” Chandrababu said in a statement.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Chandrababu over phone and informed him about Venkaiah as the NDA candidate for the second highest constitutional post.
“You have to take responsibility for Venkaiah’s victory in the election,” a release from the CMO, quoting the Prime Minister as having told the Chief Minister, said.
Chandrababu called Venkaiah over phone and extended greetings.
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister N China Rajappa also congratulated Venkaiah.
“This is an honour for the Telugu people,” he said in a statement.
