On a day when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is launching its manifesto for the national election, its president Amit Shah is expected to meet upset senior party leaders LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, on Monday.
The meeting is aimed at bringing the veterans back on board, said sources. The opposition has been attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah for benching their mentors.
The BJP will release its manifesto for the Lok Sabha polls scheduled to start from April 11 on Monday, with issues of development and national security set to be its key highlights.
Top party leaders, including Prime Minister Modi and its chief Shah, will be present at the launch of the manifesto, described by the BJP as its "Sankalp Patra".
Congress party on Tuesday released its manifesto-Jan Awaaz-for Lok Sabha elections 2019 in the presence of veteran Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.
The general elections are scheduled to be held in seven phases from 11 April to 19 May 2019 to constitute the 17th Lok Sabha. The counting of votes will be conducted on 23 May, and on the same day, the results will be declared.
Legislative Assembly elections in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim will be held simultaneously with the general election.
