New Delhi: It seems all is not well in Nitish Kumar-led ‘Mahagathbandhan’ government in Bihar.
After senior RJD leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh criticised Kumar for projecting himself as the leader of group, another RJD leader has come forward demanding the CM’s resignation.
This time, party Mohammed Taslimuddin has demanded Kumar’s resignation for his failure to control crime in the state.
After massive victory of the Grand Alliance in last year’s Assembly elections, a surge in crime rate has been witnessed in Bihar -- throwing a big challenge to Nitish Kumar who also holds the Home portfolio as well.
Kumar, who championed the cause of “Sushasan” or Good Governance during the last two stints as CM, has come under severe criticism from the national media, opposition and now from his own alliance partner RJD following the rise in crime. It also highlights the growing difference among the alliance over Nitish’s leadership.
“Nitish Kumar should resign and understand his failures. As Kumar holds the home portfolio, the law and order failure has to be pinned to him,” he told reporters in Patna yesterday after the party central parliamentary board meeting.
"I want the RJD-JD(U) alliance to break today itself if possible, but its Lalu ji's decision," he added.
Senior RJD leader Prabhunath Singh, who was also present in the meet, criticised the state government’s working.
“If Shahabuddin was holding durbars in jail, it only shows the administrative weakness of the government. If durbars were being held regularly what were the officials doing?” he asked pointing deterioration of law and order in the state.
Recently, RJD strongman Shahabuddin was shifted from Siwan jail to Bhagalpur jail after his prison cell was searched by police in connection with the murder of Siwan journalist.
Reports also say that he was organising 'darbar' inside the jail.
Earlier, Lalu’s close confidante Raghuvansh Prasad had accused Kumar of weakening the anti-BJP forces by projecting himself as a leader of the group.
“Nitish looks to be an obstacle to the possible unity of secular forces for Mission 2019. His selfishness is weakening the unity of the Grand Alliance. He has been projecting himself as a leader,” he had said.
