In a shocking incident ahead of crucial meeting to pick the successor of late AIADMK supremo to lead the party here, an ugly fight broke out on the streets with rebel MP Sasikala Pushpa’s lawyers being thrashed by a large gathering of the party cadres.

The incident took place when four lawyers of suspended AIADMK MP Sasikala’s team had gone to party headquarter to submit a letter.

They were outside the office when a crowd attacked them, reports said, adding that her husband Lingeswara Thilagan, lawyers and supporters suffered injuries.

The incident happened a day before the party's general council meeting that would elect party's general secretary.

Sasikala, a Rajya Sabha MP, told reporters that she was suspended and not terminated from the party, therefore, she should be allowed to be a part of the meeting.

She further said that there are a lot of people who think that Sasikala Natrajan and her family killed Amma and there should be a thorough probe into the matter.

Sasikala had recently filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court urging it to order a CBI probe into the death of Jayalalithaa.

Meanwhile, security was beefed up, and both ends of Lloyds Road were barricaded.
