Puducherry: Twenty-five companies of Central Reserve Police arrived in Puducherry during May first week, District Election Officer of Puducherry P Jawahar said.
He told reporters 2,500 CRPF personnel would be on duty in the Union Territory.
He said the Election department has conducted training for 3800 officers deployed for poll duty and the first round of training was completed on Wednesday.
Puducherry goes to Assembly polls on May 16.
With a view to generating awareness among the young and first time voters the election department was sending appeals through individual letters to these voters and around 23,000 first time voters were being covered under this initiative.
Union Territory of Puducherry has around 9.32 lakh voters.
The Election Commission has appointed three special observers and 22 expenditure observers.
He said the department had received 536 complaints of which 525 complaints have been disposed of.
He said a majority of the complaints were found to be ‘baseless and fictitious.'
