Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu today lashed out at the unidentified miscreants responsible for setting 22 schools ablaze in Kashmir in the last two months.
In nearly three-and-a-half-month long unrest in Kashmir, the unlikely and biggest causality is education in the Valley with 22 schools building being burnt down with latest being in Anantnag on Sunday.
Reacting on such incidents, Venkaiah Naidu said: “This is a combination of madness and perversion, otherwise how can anyone think of setting fire to education institutions,”
Meanwhile, opposition leader and former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah called for "strictest punishment" for the people behind the incidents.
Schools in Kashmir valley have been closed due to a shutdown call by separatist groups, which began after the 22-year-old Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani was killed on July 8.
