After marriage they shifted to Pakistan. Jemima Khan came into Pakistan media's limelight and became a victim of excessive media attention. She was often asked awkward questions and humiliated.

She tried her best to adjust to the new culture and environment but as days went by, life became more and more uneasy for the lady.

Imran was already a successful cricketer but he had a burning desire to make a foray into electoral politics. Jemima respected his passion and supported him all along.

So in April 1996, he founded Pakistan Tehreek – e- Insaf party. He called it a movement for justice. He also became its first Chairman.
