Prone to slip-ups Romney is not going down in history as a great speaker. He has however made significant speeches which make clear the difference between his and Obama's visions for the country. In January 2012 in his New Hampshire primary speech he said:

"I stand ready to lead us down a different path, where we are lifted up by our desire to succeed, not dragged down by a resentment of success."

It's fair to say that Mitt Romney is prone to gaffes. Most recently he suffered a particularly gaffe-strewn trip to Britain, during which he drew headlines of "Mitt-the-twit" after he made several critical remarks concerning the Olympics.

Earlier this year said he caused controversy at home too when he said he was "not concerned about the very poor" suggesting that he would focus his efforts on the middle class.
