Sharmila is a Pakistani politician who was an advisor to the Sindh Chief Minister from September 2008 to January 31, 2011.
Her father Usman Faruqi was a bureaucrat and a former Chairman of Pakistan Steel Mill.
Sharmila is the niece of Salman Faruqi, a well-known confidante of former Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari.
Sharmila has got a master's degree in business administration and a master's degree in law.
She was recently engaged to Hashaam Riaz Sheikh who was an adviser to former President Asif Ali Zardari.
The two met at a cabinet meeting and fell in love with each other.
Talking about Sheikh, Sharmila says,” He loves me for who I am – my virtues as well as vices.”
“She is the love of my life but the president is the first love of my life! Sharmila is the second and she has to compromise on that,” says Sheikh laughingly.
