"I meant to say that local people should get preference (in employment). And this is everywhere. I did not say anything new. It is everywhere. Is it not so in Gujarat (that locals get preference in jobs)?," he told reporters.
He said the state government will maintain rule of law at all cost.
The saffron party believes that only one idea should run the country, Gandhi said at a public rally organised by his party's southern ally the DMK in Chennai.
Talking to reporters during a function at his residence, where two expelled senior PDP leaders -- Basharat Bukhari and Peer Muhammad Hussain -- joined his party on the day, Abdullah said: "Governor's rule or the President's rule must come to an end.
In Bhopal, Nath had said, "Lot of industries are set up in which people from other states, like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, come to work. I do not want to criticise them, but the youth of Madhya Pradesh are deprived (of jobs)."
"We promised to waive loans in 10 days. In two states, we did it within six hours and we would do it in the third state very soon," Gandhi told reporters outside Parliament.
"We used to hear such things from Maharastra, where it is being said why North Indians come here, do business and take jobs. Similar voices came from Delhi. Now it's from MP," Yadav said in Lucknow.
It is pertinent to mention here that within hours of coming to power in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, Congress governments waived off farm loans.
"Rahul Gandhi who tweets all the time, doesn't even welcome the court's decision. No Congress leader spoke on verdict. It proves that they don't have any regret on the matter," he said.
Gandhi also reiterated the Congress' demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the deal. He claimed that if it was conducted, names of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and businessman Anil Ambani will come to the fore.
He also accused the Modi government of destroying "all institutions" and asserted that corruption to the tune of Rs 30,000 crore has taken place in the Rafale deal under its watch.
"But it is essential that fundamental reforms need to be evolved in all defence related deals in order to address the doubts and perceptions among the common people," she said in a statement.
Addressing a press conference after the Supreme Court dismissed the petitions seeking a probe into the deal, he said truth had triumphed and Gandhi's "lies" had no legs to stand on.
Singh said Gandhi should come to the House and apologise before the nation for his allegations.
"The BJP governments in these states worked tirelessly for the welfare of the people," Modi said.
Post noon, Congress candidates were leading over their rivals in 95 of the 197 constituencies, from where trends were available, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 78 others.
In a tweet, Akhilesh Yadav said, "Jab ek aur ek milkar bante hai gyaarah, tab badey bado ki satta ho jaati hai nau do gyaarah (when one and one come together, it makes 11, and the power of the bigwigs eventually fade away)."
Urjit Patel on Monday resigned from his post with immediate effect, citing "personal reasons".
