Two simultaneous building collapses in Vadodra

Local rescuers found five bodies and sent two injured persons to Sayaji Hospital this morning, with 25 to 30 persons feared trapped inside the rubble, as two multi storeyed buildings collapsed in Vadodara.

Mayor Bharat Shah, the police commissioner and the municipal chief have rushed to the site

Local fire brigade staff, police and other officials are at the spot to supervise rescue work.

According to the fire department, about 13 to 14 families were staying in one of the buildings.

There are 54 other similar buildings in the housing complex.

National Disaster Response Force members have reached the spot for the rescue work.

The incident happened around 4.30 am, the chief fire brigade officer of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation said.
