2007- In the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup, Ms Dhoni's India evicted South Africa from the World Cup as they defended 153 runs in Durban. Rohit Sharma was awarded the man of the match award for his unbeaten 50.

2009- Graeme Smith's South Africa settled scores with India as they defeated the men in blue by 12 runs in Group E. For his 63-run knock and good contribution in the field, AB de Villiers was named as man of the match.

2010- India regained their lead against the Proteas as MS Dhoni's men registered a 14-run win in Group C. Suresh Raina starred for India as he created history and became the first Indian to score a T20I ton. He scored 101 off 60 balls and was named as the player of the match.

2012- India defeated South Africa in a Group 2 match but only by a slender margin of 1 run. Yuvraj Singh, Lakshmipathy Balaji and Zaheer Khan were the top performers for India. For an all-round show, Yuvraj was awarded the man of the match award.

2014- Riding on the back of Virat Kohli, India registered another thumping win over the Proteas side in the 2014 semi-final. Kohli scored an unbeaten 72 off 44 balls as India chased 173 runs with 6 wickets in hand. With this win, India took a 4-1 lead against South Africa in all T20 World Cups.
