IPL 2020, Match 1: Rayudu, Curran inspire CSK to five-wicket win over MI

CSK ended a five-match losing steak against MI as they defeated the side in the opening game of IPL 2020.

Saurabh Tiwary was a surprise pick for MI and he didn't disappoint with the bat, as he scored 42 off 31 deliveries.

Ravindra Jadeja brought CSK back in the game with two wickets in an over, removing Tiwary and Hardik Pandya (14).

After MI ended on 162/9, they made a strong start as Trent Boult dismissed Shane Watson on 4, while Murali Vijay was out on 1.

However, Ambati Rayudu shined for the CSK side as he forged a 115-run partnership with Faf du Plessis, scoring 71 off 48 balls.

Sam Curran was surprisingly sent at number six ahead of MS Dhoni and the moved paid as he scored 18 off 6 balls, steering CSK to victory.

Faf du Plessis hit the winning runs and also completed his half-century, staying unbeaten on 58 off 44 balls.
