Captain Rohit Sharma stepped up to the occasion with a brilliant half-century as MI bagged their fifth IPL trophy by defeating DC in the final. MI also successfully defended their title and became the only team after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to do so. Rohit Sharma, on his 200th IPL appearance, clinched his fifth IPL title as a captain and sixth as a player. Mumbai Indians, before their title triumph on Tuesday, had won the trophy in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019. Krunal Pandya hit the winning run as MI hunted down the total and added another feather to their already illustrious cap. Suryakumar Yadav (19) and Ishan Kishan (33*) made valuable contributions in MI's win as they chased the target down with 8 balls to spare. MI were on top from the first over with a 45-run partnership between openers Sharma and Quinton de Kock. On the back of Shreyas Iyer-Rishabh Pant duo's partnership, DC recovered from losing three wickets in the first four overs to post 156/7.
