Jasprit Bumrah was the hero of the day for India picking up six wickets for just 45 runs in the first innings. This was his 10th five-wicket haul in Test cricket and also completed 150 wickets in the format. Thanks to his exceptional bowling, England collapsed from 114/1 to 253 all out that helped India take a massive lead of 143 runs.

Out of the six wickets Jasprit Bumrah took, two were peach of deliveries that got better of the batters of England. While Ben Stokes was helpless and also expressed his frustration on the same after getting castled, Bumrah delivered his best to leave the woodwork of Ollie Pope destroyed. It was easily the best yorker at least by an Indian bowler in Test cricket ever.

Earlier in the day, Yashasvi Jaiswal notched up his maiden double-hundred with a four off Shoaib Bashir. He scored 209 runs with 17 fours and seven sixes to his name and helped India post a total of 396 runs. It was a superb knock given the fact that India's next highest score was 34 in the innings.

Zak Crawley was the top-scorer for England with the bat in the first innings for England. He scored 76 runs off 78 balls with 11 fours and two sixes to his name before getting out to Axar Patel. Moreover, it was his wicket that triggered the collapse and allowed India a sniff in the game.

Apart from Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav also bowled well dismissing Ben Duckett, Ben Foakes and Rehan Ahmed. He returned with figures of 3/71 in 17 overs playing a supporting act for Bumrah with the ball.
