Shami, Siraj sent India to a flier- On a much-hyped spin-dominating pitch, it was India's fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami, who sent India to a flying start. The duo sent back opener Khawaja and Warner in the early three overs. While Siraj trapped Khawaja in front, Warner was cleaned up by Shami.

Smith and Labushagne reignited Aussie spirits- It were Australia's best players Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith, who brought the Aussie train back on track. They negated the first session to take Australia to 76/2 at Lunch.

Ravindra Jadeja's masterclass- However, Australia were jolted badly as Ravindra Jadeja made most of his comeback. He first sent the well-set Labuschagne on 49, before finding Renshaw and Smith. Later, he went on to scalp two more wickets to take a fiver-for.

Handscomb and Carey's little fight- Carey and Handscomb put in a fight as the former took the attack to the bowlers. Handscomb was more watchful but as they both got set, they were cleaned up by the Indian bowlers.

Rohit Sharma's fifty- On a not-so-great batting pitch, India's Rohit Sharma scored a fifty. Rahul and Sharma gave India a good start, before Rahul's wicket as the dying moments of Day 1 gave some hope to visitors. But with Sharma's unbeaten 56 and India just 100 away from Australia's 177, the hosts are ahead at the moment.
