Usain Bolt, the legendary Jamaican sprinter, etched his name in history after winning his third consecutive Olympic title in the men's 100 metre event at the Rio Games. This win is also the first step towards Bolt's target of repeating his 100m, 200m and 4x100m victories at the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Games. Lets take a look at some less-known facts about the fastest man alive:

Born in 1986 in Trelawny, Jamaica, Bolt wanted to become a cricketer. However, his cricket coach, who was impressed with his running speed, advised him to enter track and field.

At the age of 15, Bolt won the 200-metre dash at the 2002 World Junior Championships to become the youngest world-junior gold medallist.

Bolt has awarded the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year twice, in 2009 and 2010. He also been awarded with IAAF Male Athlete of the Year five times (2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013).

Bolt owns a restaurant named ‘Tracks and Records’ and also a clothing line, the Bolt Collection, in conjunction with Puma. Moreover, he has his own app for Apple phone users named ‘Bolt’.

A big supporter of Pakistani cricket team, he also admired the bowling of Waqar Younis.

Fond of cricket since his childhood, Bolt is an avid fan of Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara and Chris Gayle.

Puma, one of the biggest brands among his impressive deals, pays him Rs 60 crore per year to wear their shoes.

He did one of his practical jokes when he disappeared during trials for the 2002 CARIFTA Games, hiding in the back of a van. He was eventually discovered by police.

Through prize money, government bonuses and endorsement deals with Puma, Virgin Media, Nissan Motors, Visa and Hublot, he is ranked 45th among the highest paid athletes in the world with an estimated earning of Rs 150 crore per year.
