Rohit Sharma's men won the first game before going down in the next one. The visitors registered a massive 200-run win in the final game to clinch the series.

India took part in the ODI Asia Cup, a dress rehearsal for the bigger picture. After a wash-out against Pakistan, India defeated Nepal and then their arch-rivals in the next two games. The Men in Blue defeated Sri Lanka in the final to take their 8th title.

The 2011 World Champions took on the 2015 winners Aussies in their final assignment before the home World Cup. Continuing their strong momentum from the Asia Cup, India defeated the Aussies in the first two ODIs to secure the series with a game to go. However, the visitors bounced back and prevailed in the final ODI to take the consolation win.
