Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Top five Indian batsmen to watch out for featuring Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill

Rohit Sharma will be playing a Test match after a long time, and it will be interesting to see how he fares against the mighty Australian attack.

Shubman Gill has been in the form of his life, smacking 100s like it's nothing. He will the one of the most important batters for India and will be the key batter responsible of providing India with good starts.

Virat Kohli has always been terrific against the Aussies. He will need to be at his best to tackle Nathan Lyon and Company, and it will be interesting to see if he can make this series really count. In 36 innings played against the kangaroos, Virat has accumulated 1682 runs at an average of 48.

Cheteshwar Pujara will be the backbone of India's batting lineup. He will need to be at his 2018/19 best if India are to counter the Aussie spinners. In 37 innings, Pujara has accumulated 1893 runs at an average of 54 and a strike rate of 42.

Ishan Kishan may or may not make his debut in the 1st Test, but it is quite possible that he will make his debut in the series. It is difficult to replace Pant, but if anyone can fit into that role, it certainly is Ishan Kishan as he can change the momentum of the game in just a few overs.
