Ravichandran Ashwin grabbed a four-fer to put India in a commanding position on the second day of the pink-ball Test. He registered 4/55 to leave his mark at Adelaide Oval.
Umesh Yadav also stepped up by taking three for 40 as India restricted Australia to a modest 191. The visitors had made 244 in their first innings.
Aussie skipper Tim Paine scored an unbeaten 73 to save his side from a batting debacle.
Paine was assisted by Marnus Labuschagne, who stuck in the middle for over 100 deliveries and scored 47 runs. Australia were reduced to 111 for seven at one point in time.
In the second innings, India were jolted with an early blow in the form of Prithvi Shaw, who departed after facing just four deliveries.
