Major fire in Kolkata Park Street

fire at Stephen Court on the busy Park Street in Kolkata on Tuesday afternoon

The building houses several famous restaurants including Flury's and Peter Kat. There are several offices also inside this building apart from some residential apartments.

More than 150 firemen were busy trying to douse the flames in the old L shaped heritage building.

Joint Commissioner of Kolkata Police Javed Shamim said the fire probably began from a lift, but the actual reason could be ascertained only by the FSL (Foreensic Science Laboratory).

18 persons have been sent in ambulances to nearby hospitals, sources said.
