The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved the extension of 17.435 km long Aqua Line Metro Project from Noida Sector-51 to Greater Noida Knowledge Park-V. The opening of the new metro line is expected to alleviate traffic congestion on the 130-meter road, reducing jams. This will not only ease the flow of traffic but also save time for passengers.

The project is estimated to cost Rs 2,991.60 crore, with Rs 394 crore contributed by the Centre and Rs 394 crore by the state government. The state govt will allocate 40 per cent of the funds from the Noida Authority and 60 per cent from the Greater Noida Authority.

The new corridor will connect Sector 51 in Noida to Knowledge Park-V in Greater Noida West, spanning a distance of 17.435 km and comprising 11 stations. Currently, the Aqua Line operates a single corridor with 21 stations, running from Sector 51 in Noida to the Depot in Greater Noida, which has been in operation since 2019.

About 1.25 lakh ridership is expected on this route. In the revised DPR, the metro route is about two and a half km longer than before. Earlier a route of 14.958 km was built, which has now become 17.435 km long. The implementation of the project will also facilitate transportation and generate direct/indirect employment opportunities.

On this new route, the Blue Metro line coming from Delhi will connect with the Aqua Metro line heading towards Greater Noida West at the Sector-61 station. This integration will eliminate the need for passengers to switch metros, providing a more convenient and efficient travel experience.

The metro stations to be constructed along this route will include: Sector-51, Sector-61, Sector-70, Sector-122, Sector-123, Sector-4 Greater Noida, Sector-12 Ecotech, Sector-2 Greater Noida, Sector-3 Greater Noida, Sector-10 Greater Noida, Sector-12 Greater Noida, and Knowledge Park-V Greater Noida.
