The Statue of Unity will be open to the public from November 3. Tickets can be booked online at www.soutickets.in.

The statue occupies over 20,000 square meters and is surrounded by a 12 square km artificial lake. The "Statue of Unity' is the world's tallest statue of height 182 metres. It is twice the height of the Statue of Liberty in the US. The statue showcases Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India's first Home Minister, dressed up in a traditional dhoti and shawl, towering over river Narmada.Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's statue now tops the list of world's tallest statues.

The 182 metre statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is located at Kevadiya in Narmada District of Gujarat

At 182 metres, it is 23 metres taller than China's Spring Temple Buddha statue and almost double the height of the Statue of Liberty (93 metres tall) in US

The 129 tonnes of iron for the statue came from melting the farm impelements donated by 100 million farmers in 169,000 villages from across the nation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced this project in 2010, while he was serving as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. The foundation stone for the memorial was laid in 2013.

Statue of Unity

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Rashtriya Ekta Trust (SVPRET) was established by the Government of Gujarat for its construction.

The Statue of Unity has been designed by Padma Bhushan-winning sculptor Ram V Sutar.
