In Pics: Dussehra celebrations across India

Dussehra is celebrated every year across India with fervour to mark the victory of good over evil. Effigies of Ravana are burnt in every part of the country. It is said that Lord Rama killed Ravana to avenge the abduction of his wife Sita. According to mythology, Lord Rama was a righteous person and Ravana was a demon. In some parts of India, on this day idols of Goddess Durga are immersed, to mark the end of Navratri.
