During 1971, the year of Bangladesh independence, lakhs of people migrated to West Bengal.

According to puja organisers, the pandal though made on the theme of pain of partitions. But it also reflects the present day pain of migration all over the world- Syria, Afghanistan, Africa, Latin America everywhere.

One of the celebrated artist Bhabatosh Sutar is behind the theme. The depiction drew references from Khushwant Singh''s novel ''Train to Pakistan'' and Atin Bandyopadhyay''s ''Neelkantho Pakhir Khoje'', said Puja organisers.

The theme indeed garnered lot of love and praise from the devotess who found it very interesting.

"We have portrayed a train coming with refugees from Pakistan to showcase the sufferings of the displaced people. There is also announcements going over calling the name of displaced people," the organiser said

The idol of Goddess Durga looked extremely beautiful as it was lit with blue lights.

Several devotess were seen visiting the pandals and clicking pictures.
