Kedarnath Temple, Uttarakhand: This is one of the most important temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. This is also a part of the Char Dham Yatra. However, you cannot visit the temple all through the year. The temple opens only for six months during the summer months and remains closed during the winter months. You have to trek through the Garhwal mountains to reach the temple, however, you have other options to reach the temple as well.

Vaishno Devi Temple, Jammu and Kashmir: This temple is located at the top of the Trikuta Mountains and one has to undertake a trek to reach the temple. The temple is one of the 108 Shakti Peethas dedicated to Durga. The temple remains open throughout the year. The base camo for the yatra is Katra and you can reach Katra by train, taxi, car or bus.

Amarnath Temple, Jammu and Kashmir: This is another revered temple in the country and people from across the globe visit the place. You will have to trek through the mountains to reach the Amarnath Cave Temple. You trek through the rugged mountains to reach the sacred cave that has the Shiva Lingam made of ice. This temple is open during July and August and remains closed during other times of the year.

Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Varanasi: This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in the country. The temple stands along the banks of the River Ganga. There are different aartis that take place throughout the day. The first aarti of the day begins at 3:00 AM which is known as the Mangala Aarti and the last aarti of the aarti is the Shayana Aarti which takes place from 10:30 PM to 11:00 PM.

Badrinath Temple, Uttarakhand: This is a temple that is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is a part of the Char Dham Yatra. You can drive to reach the temple and is open from 06:30 AM to 09:00 PM. Like the Kedarnath Temple, Badrinath Temple too remains closed during the winter months from the end of October to the end of April. It opens on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya.
