Rashmika Mandanna, Ram Charan to Keerthy Suresh, South actors with failed Bollywood debuts

Gaining popularity at the pan-India level is not an easy task. Many stars have come out of the regional film industry and gained popularity all over the country. At the same time, some stars failed to do so. Today we are going to tell you about some such South Indian actor who had a lot of success in the South, but their start in Hindi films was not good. Moreover, they now have a good Pan India appeal but their Bollywood debuts were a flop.

Keerthi Suresh recently made her Hindi cinema debut with Varun Dhawan starrer 'Baby John'. She had a lot of expectations from this film. However, her film directed by Kalees has flopped badly at the box office.

Malavika Mohanan has made a special place in the hearts of people with her acting in South cinema. In September 2024, she made her debut in pan-India films with 'Yudhra' opposite Siddhant Chaturvedi. However, this action film failed at the box office. Malavika also failed to leave her mark among the audience of Hindi cinema.

Vijay Sethupathi marked his Bollywood debut with Katrina Kaif in Sriram Raghavan's 'Merry Christmas' in January 2024. The film made with a budget of Rs 60 crores was able to earn only Rs 22 crores globally. Despite being a fine watch, the film was unable to attract audiences in the theatres.

Vijay Deverakonda made his Bollywood debut with Dharma Productions 'Liger' in August 2022. Also starring Ananya Panday, the film was made for Rs 125 crore, however, it earned only Rs 61 crore at the box office making it one of the biggest flops of the year.

Rashmika Mandanna started her film career with 'Kirrik Party'. Her recently released film Pushpa 2 has made a huge profit at the box office. However, you will be surprised to know that Rashmika's Bollywood debut was also a flop. She made her debut with 'Goodbye' opposite Amitabh Bachchan. The October 2022 film earned only Rs 7 crores. It was made in Rs 30 crores.

Pooja Hegde has achieved a lot of success in Tamil and Telugu cinema. After this, in 2016, she entered Bollywood with 'Mohenjo Daro' with Hrithik Roshan. This film was directed by Lagaan and Swades famed filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, but the film flopped at the box office.

Ram Charan made his Bollywood debut in Priyanka Chopra starrer Zanjeer. The 2013 remake of Amitabh Bachchan's superhit film was a flop at the box office. Made with Rs 60 crores, the film earned only Rs 23 crores.

Trisha Krishnan made her Bollywood debut opposite Akshay Kumar. 'Khatta Meetha' was a remake of the 1988 Malayalam film 'Vellanakalude Nadu' starring Mohanlal. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film released in 2010 had a below-average box office performance.

Shruti Haasan made her Bollywood debut in Imran Khan and Sanjay Dutts' 2009 film Luck. Made with a budget of Rs 37 crores, the film earned only Rs 34 cores and was unable to recover its filmmaking cost.
