Karwa Chauth 2016: B-town celebrates the festival with love and enthusiasm

The married women observed the fast of Karwa Chauth for their husband yesterday and just like any other festival, this too was celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm. With ladies dressed up like brides, wearing gaudy sarees, heavy jewelleries, it was quite evident that the festival holds a lot of importance for the married couples. Karwa Chauth is a festival that symbolises a woman’s unconditional love and sacrifice for her husband as fasts for the health and prosperity of her husband. An old-age tradition, the ritual was immortalised by Bollywood. Certainly, the B-town couldn’t miss the opportunity to celebrate the festival of Karwa Chauth. Be it veteran actress Sridevi or the recently wed Bengali bride Bipasa Basu, several Bollywood divas observed the sacred fast for their loving husbands. Sanjay Dutt and his wife Maanayata looked madly in love with each other as they posed happily on the eve of Karwachauth. Maanayata shared the pic on her Instagram account and expressed her feeling for Dutt in the caption saying love can last forever if you are with the right person.

Actor Indraneil Sengupta opens the Karwa Chauth fast of his wife Barkha. The smile on Barkha’s face after seeing the food has indeed made Indraneil fall in love with the lady all over again.

Actress-turned-director Divya Khosla Kumar shoes to wear a red lehenga designed by designer Masaba Gupta for the special day and was looking gorgeous.

Bipasha Basu, who married actor Karan Singh Grover in April this year, was quite excited to celebrate her first Karwa Chauth. Dressed in pink and white salwar-kameez, she looked like a punjbai bahu while white and red bangles added the Bengali touch to Bipasha’s look.

Salman Khan’s baby sister Arpita is all smiles during the Karwa Chauth after she got the big surprise on her special day. Her hubby Aayush Sharma who was not with her on the festival gave Arpita a pleasant surprise by arriving just before she was going to open her fast.

Veteran actress Sridevi celebrated Karwa Chauth along with her girl gang including actress Neelam Kothari, Raveena Tandon and Padmini Kolhapuri. Ranbir Kapoor’s aunt Riddhima Jain too was a part of the celebration
