Controversies battled by Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi

Just like her last two films, Kangana Ranaut's latest Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi too battled its way out of controversies.

  • Mangal Pandey: The Rising filmmaker Ketan Mehta, who was earlier supposed to direct his dream project Jhansi Ki Rani: The Warrior Queen slapped a legal notice on Kangana Ranaut and producer Kamal Jain. He accused them of breach of trust, especially Kangana, who was to play the titular role in Mehta's film. ''Be careful before you trust,'' Ketan Mehta told indianexpress.com talking about the life-long lesson he got.

They claimed that a song shows Rani Laxmi Bai dancing and it is against tradition. They even asked makers to show them the film before its release. Reacting to it, Kangana said, ''I am a Rajput and I will destroy them. Later, the fringe group said they weren't involved in the protest, however, demanded an apology from Kangana for making ''derogatory statements' against them, to which the actress blatantly refused.
