New Delhi: Chris Martin, front man of British band Coldplay, partied with the who’s who of Hindi film industry on Thursday. Chris will be performing along with his band at the Global Citizen Festival India tomorrow.

Martin landed in Mumbai on Wednesday, three days before the event, as he wanted to get oversee that the preparations for the show were going fine. But, before the highly-cited day, Chris got a taste of Bollywood’s hospitality.

A welcome party for Chris was hosted at the The Taj Mahal Palace having brightest stars of the Bollywood sky. Shah Rukh Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Shankar Mahadevan, Shraddha Kapoor were some of the stars who graced the party.

Though, Coldplay performing is one of the biggest highlights of the event but it will also see a hoard of other celebrities. The eight hour long show will see performances by Parineeti Chopra, Shraddha Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, rapper Jay Z among others.

The event to be held at the MMRDA grounds in suburban Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) became a political slugfest after opposition parties in Maharashtra, NCP and Congress, alleged that ruling BJP has plans to use this event for gains in upcoming municipality elections.

Not only this, a PIL was filed against the event at the Bombay High Court where petitioners Anjali Damania and Hemant Gavande challenged government’s decision to waive off entertainment duty for the event.

They requested the HC to stay the event but the court refused to do so. However, in the ruling the court said that if asked the organisers will have to pay duty in the future.

This will be the first time that much loved band will perform in India.
