Before Jai Bhim, these Indian films generated huge Oscar buzz

Mother India, Salaam Bombay and Lagaan have been top contenders from India for an Oscar win in the Best Foreign Film category but all three of them have lost at their times. Jai Bhim is in the running for a Best Film nomination at the 94th Oscars among 276 films.
