Alia Bhatt’s mother Soni Razdan is half Kashmiri and half German. She has an elder sister named Shaheen. She also has two half siblings—Pooja Bhatt and Rahul Bhatt, who are from Mahesh Bhatt's first wife Kiran Bhatt.

Alia made her debut on the silver screen in 1999 in the movie ‘Sangharsh’ in which she played the young Preity Zinta in the film which also starred Akshay Kumar and Ashutosh Rana.
