Birthday special: A look at Aishwarya Rai-Abhishek Bachchan love story

One of the most stunning beauties in Bollywood Aishwary Rai Bachchan is celebrating her 43rd birthday today. The actress has been in the limelight not just because of her beauty and her professional achievements, but also because of her love life. Aish, who had once dated superstar Salman Khan, caught a lot of eyeballs after she broke up with him. Though she was linked up with Vivek Oberoi as well, the blue-eyed beauty chose to broke a million of hearts when she married Abhishek Bachchan in 2007 One of the most adored of couples of B-town Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai have completed nine years of marriage today. Aish and Abhishek have complemented each other very well in every phase of life be it personal or professional. The much-in-love couple clearly defines what it takes to make marriage work in the best possible way. It was not love at first sight for Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. The two first met on the sets of Dhai Akshar Prem Ke in 2000 and became good friends. Aish Abhishek also romanced each other in Kuch Naa Kaho in 2003.

At that time, while Abhishek was engaged with Karisma Kapoor, Aish was in a relationship with Salman Khan. However, destiny played its role and Abhishek-Karisma’s engagement broke-off while Aish too called it quits with Salman.

Soon Abhi and Aisha got a chance to share the screen space in the item song ‘Kajra Re’ in Bunty Aur Babli in 2005 along with Amitabh Bachchan.

Later, Abhishek-Aishwarya got to know each other more while shooting for three movies together- Umrao Jaan, Guru and Dhoom 2. This is when the two started falling for each other.

It was after the premiere of Guru in Toronto, when Abhishek went on his knees for Aish and asked her the big question to which she said yes.

Abhishek had said in one of his interviews - “I was filming in New York for a movie. And, I used to stand on the balcony of my hotel room and wish that, 'One day, wouldn't it be nice if I was together with her, married. Years later, we were there for the premiere of Guru. After the premiere, we were back in the hotel. So, I took her to the very same balcony, and I asked her to marry me.”

The couple got engaged on January 14, 2007 after which Abhishek and Aishwarya got open with their relationship.

Aishwarya and Abhishek entered the nuptial bond on April 20, 2007 and their wedding was indeed the talk of the town. It was no less than a fairy tale wedding.

Abhishek and Aishwarya’s family got completed after the birth of their daughter Aaradhya on 16th November, 2011, who is the new centre of attraction for the media.
