On the occasion of the 78th Independence Day, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma unveiled a series of initiatives aimed at driving economic growth, improving public welfare, and tackling the drug menace in the state. Speaking after hoisting the national flag at Lammual in Aizawl, Lalduhoma highlighted his government’s commitment to inclusive governance and development, emphasizing the importance of accountability, transparency, and citizen-centric administration.

One of the key announcements was the launch of a new loan scheme, designed to empower deserving individuals with interest-free loans of up to ₹50 lakh. The state government will act as a guarantor for these loans and will cover the interest, making it a potentially groundbreaking initiative in the country. The Mizoram Ceiling on Government Guarantees Act, 2011, is set to be amended to facilitate this scheme.

The Chief Minister also introduced the upcoming 'Universal Health Care Scheme,' which is set to provide comprehensive healthcare coverage to the general population, including government employees and pensioners. This scheme is part of the government's broader efforts to stabilize the state's fiscal health and improve financial management.

In addition to these welfare initiatives, Lalduhoma highlighted the recently launched Mizoram Sustainable Investment Policy 2024, aimed at attracting private investment and stimulating sustainable economic growth. The policy outlines a comprehensive framework to align investments with the state's long-term growth objectives.

Meanwhile, the government’s focus on local agriculture and entrepreneurship was also emphasized by the CM, with plans to support local produce, promote small-scale industries, and create job opportunities for the youth under the state's flagship 'Bana Kaih' or Hand Holding policy. This policy will be integrated with various central government programs to maximize its impact.

Further, the CM also highlighted the state's ongoing battle against drug abuse. Lalduhoma announced the reconstitution of the 'State Level Core Committee on Ruihhlo Do' to strengthen the fight against the drug menace. He reported that drugs worth over ₹66.8 crore have been seized so far, and expressed gratitude to law enforcement agencies, security forces, and civil society organizations for their efforts in this regard.
