In a joint operation, the Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police recovered 39,900 detonators from the Indo-Myanmar border. Post-operation, an official press release was issued revealing the scenario under which the recovery was made.
According to the press release, a joint operation was launched after a specific intel of war-like stores' movement near the border. The teams intercepted a bike after which the detonators were recovered. "Acting on specific intelligence of movement of war-like stores near the Tayo River near Indo Myanmar Border, Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police launched an operation and endeavoured to intercept a bike. The rider, sensing that he is likely to be caught, abandoned the bike and fled across the river. On thorough search 39,900 detonators and a mobile phone were recovered," as per an official press release.
The recovered items were handed over to the Mizoram Police for further legal actions. "This successful operation underscores intelligence-gathering, meticulous planning and close coordination among Assam Rifles and the local police. The recovered items have been handed over to the Mizoram Police," the release stated.
Drug, Indian currency recovery
Earlier on October 10, Assam Rifles recovered marijuana and Indian currency with a total worth of Rs 95.44 lakh in Champhai, Mizoram in two separate operations and apprehended two individuals. The first operation was carried out in Champai's Gen Area Zote wherein 7.36 kgs of marijuana costing Rs 5.44 lacs was recovered. A 33-year-old individual was also apprehended.
In the second operation carried out at Champai's Vengsang, Indian currency worth Rs 90 lakh was recovered. Along with that, one 38-year-old Myanmar national named Thanpmanglian was also apprehended. The operations were carried out by the Assam Rifles and Excise & Narcotics teams of Champhai based on specific information.
