After recent developments in neighbouring Bangladesh, Meghalaya has imposed a night curfew near the Bangladesh border. Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that the state government has decided to impose a curfew on the international border with Bangladesh amid unrest in the neighbouring country.

Notably, Bangladesh has witnessed a dramatic turn of events as the 15-year-long term of Sheikh Hasina came to an end on Monday after she resigned and fled the country. The student protests against the quota for the descendants of 1971 war veterans turned into a protest for a single demand for her resignation. In weeks of violence over 300 people, including policemen, were killed.
After her resignation, Sheikh Hasina came to India. On Monday evening, her plane landed at the Air Force's Hindon Airbase in Ghaziabad. India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met Sheikh Hasina at Hindon Airport. During this, senior military officers were also present with him. According to sources, former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina has been shifted to the safe house of Hindon Airbase. Agencies have been deployed for her security. According to reports, former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is preparing to leave for London after the UK approves her asylum request.
Meanwhile, the government has called for an all-party meeting in Delhi. Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, EAM Jaishankar and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju will represent the government in the meeting. EAM Jaishankar will brief all the parties about the developments going on in the neighbouring country.
