In an unfortunate road accident, six people, including an 18-month-old child, were killed while another got injured after an auto-rickshaw collided with a car in Assam's Karimganj district on Tuesday, police said. The tragic accident occurred in the Nilam Bazar area of the Karimganj. As per the officials, the victims were inside the autorickshaw when it collided with a car, leaving all of them but one dead.
What does Karimganj SP say?
Providing details about the accident, Karimganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Partha Protim Das said that the accident took place in the Nilam Bazar area of the district. He further added that one person was seriously injured in the accident and was subsequently taken to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital. "Six people, including an 18-month-old child, died in the accident. One person was seriously injured in the incident and referred to Silchar Medical College & Hospital," SP Das said.
Assam CMO expresses condolences
After the accident, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed grief over the unfortunate mishappening. Talking to social media platform X, Assam Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said, "HCM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is deeply saddened by the loss of 6 precious lives in an unfortunate accident in Patharkandi. HCM expresses his heartfelt condolences to the kith and kin of the deceased."
